Text Box: Summer of 2008 Four couples on Gold Wings, two couples in RV’s pulling Gold Wings and one lone rider on a Gold Wing Trike from Chapter K (13 in all) left Southern Georgia for the South Carolina Wing Ding. Camping in Table Rock camp grounds was interesting to say the least for campers as well as tents since the landscape was quite hilly. Table Rock had not only beautiful scenery but perfect weather most of the time, warm days and cool nights---perfect for riding. This Gold Wing group loves to ride and see the surrounding areas where we camp. The curvy roads were a joy in themselves as all of us love cruising through them. We rode many miles taking in the breathtaking scenery. We hiked up to Twin Falls and the ladies played in the icy water at the bottom of the falls. The next day some of us found the lake at Table Rock to be a challenge, especially the high dive which even some old people participated in. We swam with the fish that nibbled at our legs. The water was quite cold. One little boy showed me a snake in the far end of the cove. Even the geese seemed to enjoy the swimmers rather than being afraid. The next day we rode up to the park to see Stumphouse Tunnel. We stopped on the way and bought items for a picnic which was really fun and yummy. The mountains were gorgeous and the blue sky was a perfect backdrop. Then the refreshing rain came and gave the plants a good soaking. The rain on the leaves brought out the vibrant green colors which was delightful to the eye. Some of the group hiked the 1600 yards into the very dark tunnel. Some of us not having flashlights decided to enjoy the sun trying to break forth through the clouds. It is such a delight to travel and see God’s great creations. It makes one thankful that He created such beauty for His people to enjoy. Not only was the campground and the surrounding scenery beautiful but meeting new people and getting to know them and spending time with already established friends are all great blessings. Happy summer, everyone, and may we all have many other safe, fun filled rides and learn to enjoy everything God created………….
